I’ve heard a few comments this week (from young ‘uns) that have made me realise how much I’ve learnt and grown as a human being over the years – without even realising it. Life skills that cannot be taught at school or college.
One of the comments being that I’m a cliché of my age group – this made me realise that, Yes, I probably am! The reason our age-group (I’m going to say 38+) is ‘cliched’ is because we’ve been through some s*** and have come to realise that being a ‘grown up’ isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
To come out of the other side of ‘life’ is no mean feat and that realisation that getting out, feeling energised and happy comes from you, it doesn’t come from anyone else.
If being a ‘cliché’ means having a laugh, swimming in lakes and rivers, running through muddy trails and cycling from cake shop to cake shop with your mates, then I am more than happy to be classed as a cliché.
I’ve also discovered that anyone under the age of 38 doesn’t know what a garibaldi biscuit is!!! The world has gone mad!!
The young ‘uns are also clichés of their age group too – lots of eye-rolling at us oldies having too much fun!!
